About us

A team that loves languages, and the people who speak them.

Vantage Linguists exists so that nobody in Scotland is left out of an important conversation because of the language they speak.

Why we do this

A missed word at the GP, the school or the sheriff court can change a life. We started Vantage to make sure that doesn’t happen.

We provide professional interpretation and translation that lets people communicate clearly and confidently across languages and cultures. Our aim is simple: every voice is heard, understood and respected.

Our linguists deliver accurate, culturally sensitive and reliable language solutions across legal, medical, community, education and business settings. We work with public services, charities and private organisations across Scotland, and with the people they serve.

We specialise in Pashto, Dari, Urdu and Hindi: languages spoken by growing communities across Scotland, and too often under-served. We would rather do four languages properly than forty badly.

Alongside interpreting and translation, we run practical training for teams who work with interpreters, and support community organisations that want to reach people they currently don’t.

What we stand for

Four promises.

01

Accuracy first

We interpret what was said, not what we think was meant. If something is unclear, we ask.

02

Respect, always

Every person in the room is spoken to as an equal, whatever their language or their situation.

03

Confidentiality

What we hear stays with us. Records are kept to the minimum a booking needs.

04

Cultural awareness

Language carries custom. We help both sides avoid misunderstandings that words alone can’t fix.

Working with us

Straightforward, and straight with you.

  • We tell you plainly what we can and can’t provide, and who else might help when we can’t.
  • Prices and timescales are agreed in writing before work begins.
  • You can reach a person by phone, monday to friday, 9am to 6pm, and urgent requests are looked at first.
  • We never use a family member or a friend in place of an interpreter, and we’ll explain why.
  • We make no claims we can’t back up. Ask us anything about how we work.

Ready when you are

Let’s find the right words.

Tell us about your organisation and what you need. We’ll start from there.
